Florida Solar Panel Incentives: Why They Matter More Than the Inverter Brand
No matter which scenario you're in, Florida incentives affect the math. The federal Investment Tax Credit is still 30% for solar systems placed in service before 2033, according to IRS Form 5695 instructions (2024). Since Florida has no state income tax, there is no state income tax credit to claim. But Florida does have a property tax exemption for solar and renewable energy devices under Florida Statute 193.624. That exemption can keep the added value of the system out of your property tax assessment, which is meaningful for homeowners with large systems.
Net metering is also on the table, but it varies by utility. Ask your utility about their current net metering rate before assuming every exported kilowatt-hour will get the same treatment.
When you compare SRNE against a more expensive competitor, calculate the 30% after you choose the complete system, not before. On an $800 inverter, 30% is $240. That's a nice difference, but it won't save you if the cheaper unit requires extra communication modules, extra labor, or a longer delay for help.
How to Decide Which Scenario You're In

- Who is doing the wiring? If it's you and you're comfortable with manuals, I'd put you in Scenario A. If it's a paid electrician and you care about callbacks, Scenario B or C.
- What are you trying to minimize? Upfront cost pushes you toward Scenario A or B. Future headache pushes you toward Scenario C.
- If the inverter fails, what happens? For a weekend cabin, you wait a week. For a rental property or a customer with a family, that wait is not acceptable.
If you land in Scenario A or B, SRNE deserves a spot on your shortlist. If you land in Scenario C, pay a little more and get the support plan. Either way, write the warranty policy on the invoice, not in a drawer.
So, is SRNE the cheapest solar inverter you should buy? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The brand is a tool, not a promise. If you check every connection, follow the negative-first rule, and treat the SRNE app as a basic monitoring tool rather than a 24/7 customer-facing dashboard, you can make it work without burning your budget.
But the cheapest solar inverter is still the one that costs you the least over the life of the system. That number is different for every buyer. Run your scenario, verify before you buy, and don't let a low price make you skip the last five minutes of checking. That five minutes is the cheapest insurance you can install.
